Thank You From Romania

My name is Nicoleta Mitrea, I’m a nurse from Romania, working in the field of nursing since 1992 and in the Palliative Care specialty since 1998. Throughout self improvement and educational opportunities, I managed to lift up the standard of my nursing knowledge and abilities, step by step at a more mature level of competency.

As a nurse coming from an ex-communist country it is almost impossible to attend international events, especially because of very low payment rates for nurses working in similar countries. For the first time I had the chance to participate at a global nursing event as it was the Honor Nursing Society Leadership Summit in Amsterdam 1-2, 2011. This has been made possible only because of the leadership education grant from Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing to assist me with participating in the leadership summit and the graceful help from Mrs. June Clark (Walles chapter – UK) and Mrs. Diane Gerzevitz (Road Island chapter – USA).

For me it has been an amazing opportunity to attend the STTI Nursing Leadership Summit. I made multiple contacts with nurses all around the world working in different specialties and as teachers also. I’m confident that from now on I have a support group, people I can easily get in contact with and gain inside on nursing matters.

I remained marked by the presentation of the 41st Biennale Convention and the 22nd International Nursing Research Congress. I wasn’t aware of the dimension nursing has in other parts of the world and I’m definitely confident that one day this dimension will be possible for nursing in Romania and in the Region of Central and Eastern-Europe, with the help and direct involvement of STTI Honor Nursing Society.

Thank you for existing and for giving me credit to join you in the process and efforts of organizing and serving nursing globally.

Sincerely yours,

Nicoleta Mitrea.
